Some differences of Eyelash NY compared to Wink Eyelash:

- they use fake hair instead of silk
- they use their own special glue instead of suture glue (created by a woman in LA)
- will last about 4 weeks as compared to 2 weeks

To be honest, I was really scared when I saw the eyelashes. It seemed REALLY dramatic. I think it had been awhile since I remembered the last time I had them… but then when I looked back, I realized they were just as crazy long!

I can understand how some people who have gotten eyelash extensions would FREAK OUT because it seems SO drastic.  But remember! It actually does look great to others.  We freak out because our paper thin eyelashes is what we’re used to. But just take a look…

It IS scary this close up, but from far away, it still looks good!

People still compliment me left and right about my lashes! Even though to me, it seems almost ridiculously long and fake looking, everyone GASPS whenever I say they’re fake! I’m amazed that people would think an Asian gal would be so lucky, but even when I close my eyes (which they make me do) they think they look NATURAL!

Remember that you’re always way more critical about your face/body than anyone else!

Since I was a full paying customer, I asked for a cappuccino and finished my Catcher in the Rye.

My colorist was Sandy (she had gotten great reviews on Yelp) and she did such a GREAT job of giving me exactly what I wanted! I told her that I had gotten my roots done at Butterfly and she mentioned that my hair seemed very “matte” which I thought was a perfect description.  It just seemed very bland and had NO texture. I told her I wanted to REALLY brighten it up, and that I wasn’t afraid of having really light hair. (I actually prefer it)

I liked my color a lot, but I’m really am NOT digging my new haircut & bangs.  I just don’t think I look right with bangs so I wore it for the day and went back to my normal hair style. I think the short look makes me look rounder (and I already feel the fattness from the holidays/winter!)

This experience made me dislike my Butterfly studio experience and like Roy Teeluck better. Sandra actually said that my cut wasn’t very good, so the blowdry guy tried to make it better adding a few more layers. (more cutting! ahhh!) I’m staying away from salons for awhile because I’ll end up with boycut length hair if I keep going back!  It’s funny how they always criticize other salons as if they were 100% wrong and they think they are 100% right!

I love the Balayage look and I do think it’s way better than foils. It looks way more natural and I don’t feel like it’s as harsh/toxic. I’m glad to have my hair light again, now that the weather is starting to become less cold!

So… what is Balayage? It’s becoming a more well known technique of highlighting hair and many people are doing this instead of foils. Literally, it means “to sweep” and they often use the term “painting hair.” It’s supposed to look more natural and subtle!

At the base, the color is applied very lightly, while at the tip, the color is very heavy.
