A couple months ago, I worked with Merci New York and Blush Designs on a gorgeous photoshoot at the New York Flower Market. Man… we got up EARLY but everyone else was up early too! Just because it’s cold and you’re bundled up in clothes doesn’t mean you can forget about your daily maintenence! When your face feels cold and all your makeup is gone… that’s a bad sign. That means all your makeup was sucked into your pores because your skin is saying “I’m…so…thirsty….even this makeup’s moisture will do.”

That’s how my face has been feeling the past couple days! Eek. My moisturizer cream jar is empty and I haven’t been able to get myself to Sephora. FINALLY I went yesterday and picked up these:

Kinerase: I was in desperate need for a new eye cream and I’ve heard all sorts of wonderful things about this Kinerase brand. Yes, it’s pretty expensive for something you put all over your eyes. However, it’s worth it!! Remember to put eye cream ALL OVER your eye area. Some people only put eye cream under their eyes but you need to put it on the corners (crow’s feet!) and also on top (sagging!).

Caudalie: At first I thought the Caudalie moisturizer was pretty inexpensive, but I realized how TEENY the bottle was and realized that it’s pretty expensive! But what I liked about the moisturizer is that it glides on and feels like it replenishes your skin instantly. I did feel however, that you had to put on a LOT. I applied the lotion, but felt my skin a few minutes later and didn’t feel like it was enough. Feeling my skin right now after I’ve been outside, it doesn’t feel dewy or moist at ALL so I’m not sure if I’ll stick with this one. I would say it’s great for sensitive skin because it does feel very light and effective.

That’s what my weekend has been like! After 2 weddings (one at 4am) and partying with some Cali friends until 4am, I came home to this:

After walking in the door, I realized I had no idea how I was going to get ready for bed or for the next day. Did I mention that we have a 3rd roommate at the moment? (a visitor staying with us for a few weeks) And I also had to wake up and volunteer for church the next day. (I know that makes me sound like a nice person, but I have been flaking for weeks so I HAD to go!) I could not for the life of me find any of my toiletries.

First of all, we did not have SOAP. How can the husband and his manfriend live without soap for days, I wondered? I guess it’s not that big of a deal for them, but like I mentioned before — I wash my hands a LOT! I felt totally gross not being able to use soap! I ended up using this:

That’s all I could find in the kitchen boxes! I had to dry myeslf with toliet paper.

Next… my makeup! I had on fake lashes too, so my eyes were really “glue-y.” Yuck. I had no hope of finding makeup remover (even as I write this, I haven’t found it yet) so I used some random lotion. Lotion + toliet paper = really horrible way to removing makeup…. and I would never recommend that unless you were in the middle of a forest or something! Imagine bits and pieces of toliet paper getting stuck around your eyes.

Next… brushing teeth! Yikes. I typically brush 3x a day but within the 24 hours I was awake I had only brushed them once. My teeth felt NASTY too! I am the type of person that neends to be sparkling clean from head to toe in order to sleep. Maybe that’s the most princessy thing about me, but I feel like the bed should be a clean place to sleep! I found my toothbrush in a ziplock bag (thanks husband!) but no toothpaste. I “borrowed” from our 3rd roommate and hoped he’d be OK with it!

We had no shower curtain, so I definitely could not shower — as much as I wanted to. (What would I dry myself with? Toliet paper?) My guy friend who crashed at our new apt the day before said he used cardboard boxes to take a “water shower.” My goodness!

These are the hilarious moments in life where you just gotta do what you gotta do. Life with what you got! I went to BedBath&Beyond (aka one of my favorite places in the world) and bought over $130 worth of bath products out of the blue. Don’t you love/hate it when that happens?

I’m very eager to unpack as soon as I get home. I’m working off of these in the meantime:
