Anyone else think this is super tacky?

I went to Essentials Spa in Melbourne Beach and although the blow outs were all disappointing, the experience itself proved to me that it is always worth it to get SOME type of salon experience with your wedding day.  Women always enjoy getting pampered, and on the wedding day when everyone’s nerves are a bit crazier than usual, it’s a great idea to calm everyone down by getting beautified!  As expected, my $25 blow out came out I had wanted with volume with some curls. But as for everyone else?

The blow outs were all flat, shapeless, stringy and looked as if we just blow dried (I almost said blew dried!) our hair ourselves. Yet all the salon women were very friendly, sweet and did a great shampoo job. Don’t even expect a shampoo job to be done well! I’ve had soapy hair whipped in my face and my hair scrubbed by a high school girl who had 3 inch long acrylic nails. Gross!

Here’s the bride, Miss K, getting her $45 blow out by the “expert” salon stylist.

I was a little miffed that they just gave her a $45 expert stylist blow out without telling me. Apparently, they assumed I’d want that because she’s the bride, but I knew that I would be styling her hair afterwards so I wouldn’t have asked to have an expert stylist! Oh well.

Look how mine curls at the bottom! What the heck. I can’t believe how different things can turn out when you get the exact same thing, but on a different head!

First step, we needed to add VOLUME! It’s not good to tease your hair too much, but it’s very necessary for special occasions like your wedding!

Here’s the MOH doing the Bride’s makeup since she has had pageant beauty experience! You can see in the picture what her hair looked like after the blow out. This is what I meant by “stringy” and flat. I knew right away that I would need to work with her after she did the makeup.

Soo…. here are the after pictures! Post blow out, post fixings on my own. I wanted beautiful beach waves for this beach themed wedding!

Ugh I took such awful pictures! lol. I will have to wait to get the professional pics to show you in better lighting.

So the next time you decide you want a blow out, and you’ve never done one before, make sure you have a Plan B just in case it turns out flat and whatevers.

When dealing with heated hair products here are a few tips to avoid the frizz!

- HEAT PROTECTANT! It doesn’t have to be the fancy salon brands. Tresemme’s heat tamer is pretty awesome for about $5.

- Invest in a high quality heating tool. High quality doesn’t always come at high prices. BEAUTYCHOICE has the HOT TOOLS brand for about $30-$40. The great thing about BEAUTYCHOICE is that they release coupon codes weekly!

Next, make sure to take precise sections of your hair (not random) to avoid frizz. You can always jazz it up after you make neat curls by running your fingers through, adding hair wax, or even teasing at the roots. But it’s always best to create neat curls first and poof it out after.

I know there are issues with matching hair color, but since this is mostly for the inside of your hair, (and your real hair will cover the top) I figure it won’t be as bad if it’s not a perfect match.

I dunno about you, but I hate my flat hair! I may want to dish out the $99 for everyday volume, especially since it won’t damage my hair.  I imagine that it would get easier & faster if you learn where to clip it after the first few times!
