    Becoming more OK

    by Carol, posted in Self

I said goodbye forever to 2 piece bikinis. I hate them with a passion and they hate me too! The idea never seemed normal to me…. it’s just like wearing a bra & panties, just made out of “swim wear material.”  I decided that I hate being self conscious so much, that stomach and back will just have to deal with being pale!  I bought this lovely suit + skirt at Jcrew:

I first wanted this swimsuit because it looked so much like my engagement dress:

T-a month .. I am a month away from my wedding & the greatest weight was lost while I was sick back in September. (10 pounds in one week). I managed to keep that 10 pounds off. But I haven’t lost anymore than that. With my dress fitting scheduled for this week, :*( WAHHH! Why didn’t I have more self control over the full rack of ribs I devoured last week?!?

While I was complaining to my mom, she must’ve had some pity on me to have delivered this.

What is this? —- A TORTURE DEVICE ….

Ballet…chi… sounds easy? Imagine this. Stand with your legs apart on your tippie toes. Bend your knees while doing so. Then slowly do some gentle squats ON tippie toes with your arms over your head and with a straight back. Now SMILE!!!  How does that feel?!

Ballet is a GREAT workout, friends. It’s even better for women because it keeps us flexible and is good tension relief. Think of it as a faster (and more beautiful) type of yoga.  No offense you Yoga people! Yoga is awesome too. But I LOVE ballet. I grew up on it and am sad that I never made it to get my pointe shoes. Ballet classes in the city are about $18 per class (bleh) but heyyyy— for only $10 you get to have unlimited ballet in your very own home!

    $10.49 on Amazon

I’m sure we’ve all gone through the phase of “what’s the meaning of of my life?” at least once so far. I was struggling with that phase a LOT about 2 years ago when I was living in Los Angeles. My life was pretty good, I have to admit. Oddly enough, that probably made me feel suffocated. At least Husband was also feeling similarly, with his job that he hated so much. We were itching to do something about it — we were dying to move to New York.  We watched Woody Allen movies, visited during Christmas and our longings worsened.  Would living here really be like how it is in the movies?

    Woody Allen's "Manhattan"

So after moving here, did Manhattan live up to my hyped our expectations? No… It was even better.

My new “tradition” for weddings is to get my hair blown out. Why? Because most likely I’m doing something for the wedding, whether it be hair or makeup, and by the time it’s time for ME to get ready — I’m exhausted! So I decided to always get my hair blown out right before the wedding at any cheapie hair salon in the area.

It’s also nice to not have to worry about washing my hair that day. I just get my hair done, put on my usual fake lashes (which is seriously all that it really takes for anyone) and ta-da…. I’m Wedding Ready!

    Whip ma hair!

    by Carol, posted in Self

If you guys haven’t already heard, Will Smith + Jada Pinkett Smith’s daughter has becoming a star! Willow Smith has her own music single out now called “Whip my Hair.” First of all, I didn’t realize that Will & Jada’s kids have grown up enough to become stars like this! I even heard that Karate Kid wasn’t all that bad.

Here’s a cute video of this Asian girl who dances to the song… I love watching young talent!! (Only 12 years old!) She was even on the Ellen Degeneres show! Man, I think I should do this every morning to wake up and lose a few calories.
