AGAPE MISSION CHAPEL is teaming up with NEW LIFE FELLOWSHIP and the FOOD BANK of NYC to acheive the goal of giving especially with Thanksgiving right around the corner.

We will be collecting on:

Living in NYC sometimes makes me forget how fortunate I am. I admit that I take A LOT of things for granted and many times even find myself complaining about things others might find as luxuries.

I focused a lot of this year trying to improve myself as a human being. Only to find at the end, questioning myself about whether I was doing things out of sincerity or self-righteousness. It’s quite hard to find the right perspective especially in the NY’er kinda mind set.

There were many times I walked by a homeless person automatically judging, “what’s the point of giving them money, when they will just go buy drugs & alcohol?” THAT in itself took a long time to break out of. So, I started giving away food. Then this hit me like a 128472187578 ton truck.

1 Corinthians 13:3 (ESV version)

^3(C) If I give away all I have, and^(D) if I deliver up my body to be burned,^[a] but have not love, I gain nothing.

It scares me to fully understand that verse. Because, it literally means … what is the point of giving away food or money, when you haven’t loved the person. And by loving them, it looks a whole lot different from just dropping money in their basket. It looks like … taking the time out to have a conversation with them, being a friend, finding out how I can help them better. It might even look like simply taking them out for a meal.

Now, building a righteous human being may take a life time but taking baby steps to such acheivements starts now.
