I couldn&#039;t start eating well till I started keeping a diary. I use the lose it app on my itouch. It&#039;s so useful cause it also gives you percentage fat, how much fiber etc.

You can also subscribe to a site like Sparkpeople.com, which is a free weight-loss and fitness site that helps you log and track you food. It will calculate how many calories you&#039;ve taken in and then you can really see how much you&#039;re eating.

Simply put, you need to maintain a calorie deficit to lose weight, meaning you have to burn more than you take in. If you know how many calories you&#039;re eating, you can see how many calories you need to get out of exercise.
