Unfortunately, most Asians get the Asian flush the minute a drop of alcohol hits their system. Or if you’re my friend Albert, with a sniff of beer.

This past weekend, I was making over one of my friends who was hung over from the night before and her skin was just rejecting the makeup.

So BRIDES TO BE listen carefully! Here are some tips to avoid looking like my friend Oompa Loompa.

TIP 1: Don’t drink the night before your wedding. Alcohol dehydrates you and opens up your pores. So putting on make up can be quite difficult. The makeup won’t look like it’s a part of your skin but it will look like it’s floating on top and sliding off your face.

TIP 2: Take PEPCID before you start drinking. (This tip may not work for everyone.)

TIP 3: If you know you are prone to the Asian flush, ask your makeup artist to use:

1) A green primer to counter balance the red. Like the MAKEUP FOREVER primer in green.

2) A foundation color that matches exactly to your skin color when it’s normal and dust it with a shade lighter powder to set the foundation.

TIP 4: After you trial with your makeup artist, you should:

1) Run around to see if the makeup outlasts sweat.

2) Watch MARLEY & ME to see if the false eye lashes outlasts tears.

3) Drink a bottle of champagne and see if the makeup rules over the Asian flush.

TIP 5: If all else fails, drink after your photographer takes all your portraits!!!!

I once had a bride who popped a bottle of champagne while she was getting ready and in all her wedding photos, she’s sporting the Asian flush!
