When I first started to understand the importance of eyeshadow primer, I snatched up the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

At Sephora – $18

Original – is a clear formula that helps adhere eye shadows to your lid. This formula also helps the shadow from creasing (which is caused my oils or even tears) on your eye lid. It also helps colors appear vibrant and true to it’s color.

Urban Decay has since launched 2 more colors to this line!

At Sephora – $18

Sin – is a pretty, shimmery champagne color that can be used alone or under powder eyeshadow. Because of it’s shimmery undertone, it gives an extra glimmer to whatever is applied on top of it. Can also be used to highlight your brow bone, bridge of nose, and right above your lip on your cupid arrow.

At Sephora – $18

Eden – is a nude, tawny color that finishes matte. Great to even out the tone (discoloration, veins) on your eye lid.

My biggest complaint about the PRIMER POTIONS are it’s packaging. The way the bottle is shaped, doesn’t allow the wand to reach that bulge above the product description.

Here is Koren from ENKORE showing you how to decant and repackage the remaining PRIMER POTION.

When I first saw all these youtube-ers cutting open their bottles, I wondered how crazy sharp their knives were to cut through what seems to be plastic … BUT, AGAIN, the poor quality and disappointment of the packaging is even more disappointing when you cut through and realize how easy it is to cut through the almost card board-ish bottle.

It’s so easy to cut through this bottle that even a butter knife can do it!

I used to be able to fill 2 sample jars full of the remaining product but also found that the 2nd jar would dry out by the time I finished the first. So these STILA-esque pens are AWESOME!

You can purchase these pens HERE for $1.95! Totally worth it.

Do you find yourself having the same problems with the UDPP?

  1. I’ve always liked Mac Paint in Bare Cavas better than UDPP. Admittedly I got the tip from a Mac couter salesperson, but it really does the same thing! It’s easier to use (just squeeze out a bit from the tube and pat over your lids), a tad cheaper than UDPP, and the tiny tube lasts FOREVER.

oooh… love love love the tip! I usually use the Too Faced primer, but I’ll be doing this for my Urban Decay when it runs out~* Thanks Jina!

GEEK IN HEELS – I’m with you I used to RAVE about UDPP but found how wasteful it was. My ALL TIME FAVORITE eye shadow is GIELLA’s Magnetic Eye but it’s so expensive and can only be found online or Bendel’s. I recently found a copy cat of the magnetic eye (Laura Geller’s Eye Spackle) … it’s pretty awesome!

IRENE – NONONO! Don’t get the UDPP!!! It’s good for personal use but not as a makeup artist! I find the wand to be pretty gross after a while. I would stick to TOO FACED if you’ve been using it all along. The only thing about TFEP I don’t like it that the formula separates if you don’t use is after a while. (like ketchup)

Carol! I have the original primer potion and I kid you not, the bottle cracked at the bottom from pressure.. or something.. i think i close it too fast? but i had to glue the bottom (i used tacky glue or something). i wish i had that pen! it woulda been soo much easier!

ANNIE – =)that tube lasts a really long time~ just make sure to squeeze the bottle to mix the formula. It separates sometimes.
