I found another $25 haircut post on Craigslist and decided to go ahead and take the plunge on my birthday.  The beautiful salon is located on 21st and 5th Ave.

I had nothing to lose, so I told my stylist Crystal that I was open to anything to fix my bad haircut from months ago.  She described my layers as “boxy,” which actually made total sense to me!  That’s exactly how I felt about my layered cut. I had one fat layer and another skinny long layer.  BLEH! We decided to start all over and cut off about 5-6 inches so that it can grow out well.  That’s the KEY to a great haircut — having it be able to grow out well!

So….

I also colored my hair to be a regular brown color and am planning to get some hi-lites once Spring hits! However, I wasn’t a fan of my colorist, Megan, who seemed super inexperienced and nervous. She also passed me off to another colorist who seriously seemed like the most idiotic person on the planet! She started curling my hair on the bottoms with her fingers with my entire hair dripping WET. She kept apologizing saying “I’m sorry, I’m not good with the blow dryer.” (But…. you ARE a human working at a salon, who has blow dried her hair at least once…. right?!?)  They seemed peeved that I was unhappy (?!) so I had to straight up tell the girl “well it’s because today’s my birthday and I wanted to get a nice blowout.” No response. No smile… just silence… and then the continual grim attitude.  Geez!! Get that stick out of your butt lady!

Overall, I’m not a fan of short hair, but Crystal really went into depth telling me exactly how much she was cutting and why.  My hair length is in that annoying “not long and not short” stage, so I’m planning on wearing it in a cute, short ponytail until it grows out a bit more.

I won’t be going back for color, but I’m allowed to go back for a free bang cut! I’m thinking about getting bangs like these, since my hair will be up on a ponytail for awhile.
