When people ask for advice about foundation, I’m never the one to push mineral makeup. I’ve never had a good experience with it personally and I just hate the way it makes skin look dull, cake-y, pore-y, wrinkle-y, and any other adjective that best describes BLAH-y & messy.

About a month ago, I stopped by a BARE ESCENTUALS store to see what all the hype about the MATTE line is and instantly was SOLD! Just as I was filming my review on the product, MakeupByTiffanyD posted her review on the line and did an awesome job explaining the same problems I had with mineral makeup and explains in detail the difference between the original formula and matte HERE:

Now with that said, here are a few pointers on how to apply mineral makeup to avoid the BLAH-y look.

PREP YOUR SKIN:

- Apply all your skincare and allow it to settle into your skin for a few minutes.

LOAD YOUR BRUSH:

- Dip your brush into the powder, swirl it around, turn your brush upward (with the bristles facing up) and tap the powder so powder settles into the brush.

APPLICATION:

- Start from your cheeks and in a circular motion, buff it into skin and work outwards

- Secure the foundation with the mineral veil
