STRAIE is:

Straie atrophicae

Straie atrophicae

Still don’t see what STRAIE is??

Striae” is also a general term referring to thin, narrow grooves or channels, or a thin line or band especially if several of them are parallel or close together.

Straie atrophicae = STRETCH MARKS

Straie atrophicae = STRETCH MARKS

We all know what that is and how it’s caused ….

Before the summer began, I was getting super desperate for “the cure” and started using MEDERMA.

Mederma® is the #1 doctor- and pharmacist-recommended brand for scars, and it’s clinically proven to soften, smooth, and reduce the appearance of scars. It lets you take charge of your appearance, so your scar can become a fading memory. Discover which Mederma® is right for you.

Having all others (like : cocoa butter, baby oil, etc etc) failing on me, I didn’t have much expectations for MEDERMA .. just desperate plees ..

After 2 months, I’ve come to a conclusion that STRETCHMARKS can only be removed by lasers and surgery. BAH!

Do you guys have any suggestions for me? I want to look super hot on my wedding day.

So.. I felt so bad for not keeping up with your blog that I’ve read every post since we’ve met… now I’m up to date!

As for your current problem.. I found that when I was prego a cream called Mamma Mio really helped to prevent stretch marks- it had all sorts of oils in it to increase the skin elasticity. But to get rid of current marks is a lot tougher. Laser is one option but you can also get prescription retinol creams (retin-A, tazorac, differin) that help lessen the appearance of stretch marks (and wrinkles!) by promoting the turnover of skin cells. Exfoliating with aspirin tablets dissolved in a tiny bit of water could help too since the acids in aspirin has anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce redness if your marks are colored.

      Hope this helps!

No problem! I am always ready to share my pharma-geek knowledge!

I shall be in touch with you once I talk to my contact person!

I agree with using Retin-A (it´s stronger than Tazorac and especially Differin). I do believe there is actual scientific evidence behind this, I did a lot of research on it before getting it myself…but of course the effect will be better if the striae are new, the ones that have already faded to a silverish white color are harder to get rid of.
I use Retin-A on my face (it fades post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation so well, and my skin tolerates it really really well). Retin-A speeds up normal cell turnover in the skin, and helps build new collagen.

The only “miracle” cure would be laser treatment, but I´d try Retin-A before anything. Mederma, Bio oil, Palmers Stretch mark cream and all those other OTC things are just too weak in terms of their ingredients to really make a difference.

I can’t say that I already see results but … I do feel better knowing that there are creams out there … I just started using retin-a!

Cool, let me know how you like it! I call Retin-A my miracle cream. Miracles don´t always work fast, but at least they do (compared to all the OTC creams that are supposed to give you a uniform complexion)
