How old do I look?
I know a common problem for us Asian people is getting mistaken for a kid. My cousin went to the dentist and was asked where her guardian was, and she was 29 years old! J & I always get commented about how young we look when we meet brides. I also get it a lot at work—but of course I’m sure that working at Crumbs with an apron and bandana doesn’t help. But I get tired of hearing those comments of “Oh this was way before you were born!” (when I know exactly what they’re talking about) or “what are you studying?”
I know it’s supposed to be a somewhat compliment that we don’t look like old ladies, but at the same time I hope that they’re taking us seriously like adults.
However, I love shocking people — especially when I throw out that I’m married, which seems bumps you up a few more notches in the Responsibilty Ladder. (hehe, I do that at interviews a lot… I love seeing the raised eyebrow right after I say “ohh….my husband.“)
In the end I know I do it too—I mistake people all the time about their age, which is why I NEVER assume I know! Just treat kids, students and adults all the same— ya know?
On a fun note, here are some Michael Jackson themed cupcakes we decorated for a client. It was so fun thinking about different themes!!!

yes… i hate that, too. I hate it when the person I’m INTERVIEWING remarks on how young I look!!
Those cupcakes are freaking awesome btw!! I love i!!!
haha what!??!? the person you’re INTERVIEWING?? that’s so rude! I guess they didn’t get the job!
Fun cupcakes!!!
One day we will be sad because we won’t get carded! hahah. =)
Which Crumbs location are you at?!?!
Actually, I do miss looking young, even though I thought it was a pain before. But after having gone through a bunch of traumatic, life-changing events, the stress has left harsh marks on my skin and face. Now I actually look my age! I guess it’s better than people guessing way older than my age! Lol!
