Here I was in front of the Dueto Salon in the Midtown East to try being a hair model again! It was another Craigslist post and my hair really needed coloring.
My hair before I went in:
I know my hair was really gross.. I hadn’t washed it for 2 days! They said it’s better to get your hair dyed with dirty hair because all your natural hair oils will soak in the color better. My hair was very “streaky” and the ends were starting to turn a little orange in the sun. eww!
Overall, I had a very pleasant experience! Everything cost $29 without tip. I was a bit nervous because my lady (Natasha) said that this place was really for middle eastern women. When I asked if they ever got any Asians in the place, she said no. Eep!
But no worries.. she was extremely thorough in her explanation of what color to expect and why she was using that color. My shampoo lady did a GREAT job with shampooing and giving me a mini-shampoo massage. (Seriously, anything after that horrible Alfangi experience is like royalty service!)
It was clean and professional, and since I wasn’t going anywhere I didn’t need a style. I just got a simple blow dry and I was out the door. Quick & easy!

Afterwards... This was taken while my friend and I were waiting for Rob Pattinson (from Twilight) outside a NY hotel. =)
My hair didn’t turn out very different, but my hair changes color a LOT. Especially with a lot of shampooing. I just wanted my hair to not start turning orange, and just be one plain color. It was a little bit TOO subtle for my taste, but hey—way better that direction than the other extreme!
