Here I was in front of the Dueto Salon in the Midtown East to try being a hair model again! It was another Craigslist post and my hair really needed coloring.

Chicken skin on the arms
by Carol, posted in Product Review, Skin Care
I love wearing tank tops, but I’m always insecure about the bumpy “chicken skin” on my arms! I’ve had it all my life and I absolutely hate it! I’ve even gone to dermatologists and they tell me that it’s genetic and that I should try some scrubs or moisturizer. Too bad you can’t pop a pill to just make them go away forever!
Here are some remedies I’ve found to help lessen the bumpy-ness. Unfortunately, the redness and the bumps are still there. But I think they have definitely gotten better!

How to do a French manicure
by Carol, posted in Hands/Nails
I’ve been doing French manicures since the 5th grade! I don’t know, I guess just having an older sister makes you want to do everything that she does. I do my french tips free-hand, and I know it’s hard to get started. But keep trying and one day it’ll take you no longer than 5 minutes!

How to file nails
by Carol, posted in Hands/Nails
I know there have been some requests regarding how to take care of your nails at home, so I decided to make a little video clip and take some pictures! (for those who don’t have speakers at work):
My nails are kind of gross right now; working in the food industry, I’m always washing my hands. But I will show you anyway!
Most of the time, our nails grow in this circular shape. I know that some manicurists will round off your tips for a more circular shape, but I personally like the more rectangular shape because it looks cleaner.
To file nails, start by filing the bottom to make it straight. Ignore the white line part of your nail and just judge from different angles. (File straight according to your entire nail, not how straight the white tip part looks like.) Then file the sides straight, and then, give the corners a LITTLE bit of curve so that your nails aren’t so “boxy.” I like to make the nail rectangular shaped but clean off the sharp ends to make it look clean yet feminine.
Tomorrow’s post will be on how to do a french manicure! Stay tuned!

JAC does Fashion
by Carol, posted in Fashion/Misc., Hair, Makeup
Yes, we did another fashion shoot! This one was particularly fun because the space was AMAZING! The hair/makeup station was really professional and clean and we had a lot of fun talking with our model. (MAN she has some crazy a$$ stories about the fashion model life! I gained a whole lot of respect for fashion models and what they have to go through.)

Loving your nose.
by admin, posted in Tip of the Day
All throughout my jr high years, I’ve hated my nose. It was so big & round and didn’t match my face. However, during college I had an epiphany… my nose is the #1 thing that makes me look like my dad. People would always say “you look like your dad because of your nose.” And I love my dad! I realized that I want to look like him, even though he gave me his huge nose, double chin and his stubby legs. Of course I’m always asking God why I didn’t get my mom’s beautiful, slim, straight nose (with a bridge!!! what the!!) I’m proud of my dad and looking like him.
I would feel very sad if I ever changed my nose, and I wonder if my dad would be sad. I get really angry whenever I hear about parents yelling at you to get plastic surgery… we’re 50% mom and 50% dad. That’s what we’re supposed to look like!
Of all the beautiful noses I’ve seen, (and trust me, I’ve seen some amazing Nicole Kidman noses) I still choose my dad’s nose. Be proud of what your mama (or papa) gave you, girls! I think once you become happy with what you have and you’re able to just accept yourself, your confidence shows. You always are your worst critic!
And many years later…
