Pink is such a classic bridal color .. ESPECIALLY for Asians. For a while the “smokey” look was in. But the more I do different faces, the more I’m starting to realize how much fresher it is for Brides to look clean, classic and timeless.

Here are a few of J’s tricks of the trade, when it comes to keeping it clean, classic and timeless. (*you can click on images for a closer look)

My gorgeous friend - Lily (doesn't she look like Kim Hee Sun)
STEP 1 (setting the foundation)
- It’s important to start applying makeup on top of clean skin to be sure that your makeup stays on all day. (If you’ve trialed with JAC, then I’m sure you’ve felt me wiping your face down with a cleansing towelette before I start.)
- When doing bridal makeup, I spend the most time on perfecting the base. (basic skincare, primer, foundation, concealer, powder – this helps the foundation set and stay put)
STEP 2 (eyes)
- Always use an eyeshadow primer. Even if you have a heart made of ice cold stones, you never know! That ONE moment that might shatter it and result in big raindrop tears.
- Eyeshadow primer’s purpose:
1. acts like a glue to your shadows to hold it in place
2. most primers come a little tinted, so it evens out your skin tone on your eye (where the skin is thinner than the rest of your face so prone to visible veins and such)
3. prevents shadows from clumping which is caused by the oils that get bunched up in your crease
Colors:
- do not apply eyeshadow all over your eye lid. FOR ASIANS: we want to stay about 1/3 or 1/2 way to our lid from our lash line.
- apply light highlighting colors on the inner corner and emphasize the center. This will really draw attention to your pupils.
- apply the darker color only on the outer corner and down to your lower lash line to create a “V”
- make sure to line your eyes as close as possible to the lash line and even into the lashes to create a seamless line
- if you want to apply eyeliner to the waterline (the fleshy part on your lower lash line) only line 1/2 way from the outside to the center
- apply a full pair of false eye lashes
STEP 3 (Contour and blush)
- I used to use bronzer to contour the face till I realized how dirty it made Asians look. use a powder foundation 1 shade above your color
- shade in the hallows of your cheeks when you suck in your face
- and apply blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend it into the contour.
** the first place the brush lands on your face is where the most color will be, so be sure to place the brush on the apples of your cheek and blend up toward your hairline.
*** when we naturally blush, we tend to blush on the apples of our cheeks
STEP 4 (LIP)
- use a very neutral lip liner
- fill it in with a bubble gum pink lipstick
- add a pearly little lipgloss to the center of your lips to give yourself a little pout
STEP 5 (SET & FIX)
- I always wonder WHO IN THE WORLD TOLD MY BRIDES TO SPRAY THEIR FACES WITH HAIR SPRAY?!?!!? to set the foundation
- There are so many products out there that you can use to finish off your makeup
like the MAC fix+, Makeup Forever set & fix
