There are so many different types of facial cleansers out there and it’s so important to choose the most appropriate one for your skin’s type. A lot of cleansers are designed to not only clean skin but to restore & heal. Here are a few of the different types:

- Foaming type:
PROS: feels the most refreshing and clean because it lathers and rinses off with water.
CONS: may dry skin out

- Non-foaming type:
PROS: contains lotions & moisturizers to restore skin from dryness
CONS: that lotiony texture makes it hard to clean in one shot and needs to be wiped off with a cotton swab / tissue or it will feel really greasy when you try to remove with water. Most times, you will need to cleanse again with soap & water to remove what the “cleansing lotion” left behind.

- Scrub type:
PROS: contains little granules that removes dead skin cells. Great for good skins that have teeny tiny pores.
CONS: contains ingredients that helps remove dead skin cells on your face. Can be incredibly abrasive when the little granules scrubs against sensitive skin. Those granules can get into pores (if you have large pores) and irritate them (and cause break outs)

Here is a youtube clip of RICE BUNNY reviewing the CLARISONIC Skin Cleansing Brush.

I (J) have combination skin (where my t-zone) is incredibly oily and have really dry cheeks.
SO…
1. I like to use a foaming cleanser and use a soft bristle toothbrush to exfoliate any dead skin cells I have on my face. As a big time bargain – er, I’d prefer using a soft bristle toothbrush (a new one that specifically designated for my face and not interchangeable with my teeth xP) as an alternate to scrub down my face.
2. I use warm water to soak my face and cold to rinse off the foam. (the cold water reduces the size of pores and minimizes the appearance)
